Conrad Black Sent Back to Prison
Jun 24, 2011
Conrad Black was resentenced today, June 24. His case had been under reconsideration, and he had been out on bail, because of the Supreme Court’s decision severely limiting the doctrine of “honest services” fraud. Frankly, I do not know enough about Black’s case to speak to the content of the resentencing decision. But I do know that, if there is any truth at all in the following characterization of the prosecution case, then Conrad Black’s egalitarian persecutors were far more evil than he: “Prosecutors who brought the fraud case against Black, 66, had depicted him as a devil-may-care elitist who looked down his nose at the rest of humanity.”
