Investing in the Future of Freedom
The Objectivist Center exhibited its programs and products at the New York Money Show, which was held at the Hilton New York from Wednesday October 23 through Saturday October 26. The Money Show is a conference for individual investors held four times each year, in Orlando, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and New York. It attracts individual investors to hear financial experts discuss recommendations, trends, tools, and strategies, and to get information on investment opportunities. The show in New York drew over 4,300 attendees, 380 exhibitors, and 90 speakers.
The center was invited to participate by Kim and Charles Githler, founders of InterShow, the company that puts on the Money Show conferences. Under the banner "Investing in the Future of Freedom," the center's booth displayed an array of TOC materials, Navigator, Principal Source catalogs, a USA Today article about Ayn Rand and CEOs, and an information kit for interested attendees. Manned by Kristen Klein and Narciso Rosario, the booth stood out for its philosophical message and attracted a generous flow of traffic (including TOC members Larry Abrams, Molly Hays, and Alan Ladne). Over 100 people added their names to the center's mailing list, and many paused to talk about Atlas Shrugged and the other works of Ayn Rand that they had read and loved.
In addition, David Kelley gave a workshop presentation entitled "Ayn Rand's Philosophy for the 21st Century," which focused on Objectivism, its importance for the future, and the work that the center is doing to promote the philosophy.
