Historian and prolific author or editor of more than 20 books, Jonathan White is the country’s leading scholar on Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, slavery and emancipation, and the U.S. Constitution. In addition to teaching American Studies at Christopher NewPort University, White is also a scholar at the Jack Miller Center, a Distinguished Lecturer for the Organization of American Historians, and a Director at the Abraham Lincoln Institute and the Abraham Lincoln Association. He joins us to discuss his book A House Built by Slaves: African American Visitors to the Lincoln White House, as well as his very first children’s book, My Day with Abe Lincoln.
