Was the Enlightenment good or bad?
Among the resurgent New Right, that is not a hard question: It was bad. Opinions range from its being bad overall—to the French Enlightenment being the worst—with some allowance for the Scottish Enlightenment being the least-bad.
In this webinar, Professor Hicks will cover some of the variations in Enlightenment thinking and activism, focusing on the Scots and the impact of thinkers such as Thomas Reid, Francis Hutcheson, and Adam Smith (and David Hume.)
