Franklin Brooks, AIA

For over 20 years, Franklin Brooks, AIA, was the managing principal, CEO, and chairman of FreemanWhite, Inc., a consulting and design firm based in Charlotte, NC. The firm focuses exclusively on the healthcare industry, providing strategic planning and operational improvement services in addition to architectural and engineering services. In 2015, while CEO, he sold FreemanWhite to The Haskell Company, which is based in Jacksonville, FL. Although he stepped down as CEO, he continues to design and deliver major projects. Currently, he chairs the Healthcare Sector Advisory Board and the Haskell DesignExcellence Initiative for the company.

Mr. Brooks is a registered architect in over 20 states and has been personally responsible for the planning and design of facilities with a total construction value of over $2 billion. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and resides in Charlotte with his wife Gail in a house they designed together.

One of Mr. Brooks’ proudest accomplishments is the development and nurturing of a corporate culture based upon independence, responsibility, and empowerment. FreemanWhite was selected as one of “the best places” to work by numerous organizations including Modern Healthcare Magazine. In addition to serving on the Atlas Society board, he is active in Vistage, a CEO group, and a member of the AIA Large Firm Roundtable
